Happy Christmas, Shimmer Card

Every December I say the same; "Next year I will start much sooner, and I know I've said it before, but this time I really mean it!" And every year I believe what I say. No exception this year - but this time I really, really mean it.... (I'm so gullible, I think it's true - I honestly do!).

Anyway, I did send TWO Christmas cards this year (yay, right?). Here is one of them:

The embossed panel is Shimmer Sheetz, which is an iridescent metallic Mylar by Elizabeth Craft Design (I'm not affiliated, just love this product!). After embossing, I altered it with alcohol inks, sanded it lightly to reveal the silver core, then I added some bronze paste to the edges. I wanted to add some gold mica powder to the paste, but it flew everywhere and stuck to the alohol ink on the Shimmer Sheetz. I liked it, though - a happy accident - so I added more and set it with a fixative spray. The stamped trees are from the Whimsical Winter stamp set by Rubber Dance. I white embossed them and coloured them in with ZIG markers to match the colours of the card. I adhered the trees with some really sticky clear tabs (Power Tabs by Tombow) to raise them up from the card and make sure they stayed there.

With this card I wish you all a very merry and
♥ ♥ ♥ Happy Christmas! ♥ ♥ ♥

  1. I believe there is no middleman regarding handmade Christmas cards Bibi, we crafty folk either have all our cards finished by Summer time or suddenly realise on Christmas Eve we have forgotten to send any hee hee!! Never the less your card is fabulous and I love the effects achieved on your sanded back panel. Those Whimsical trees make a great focal for your card. I'm sure it will be greatly received especially as it's a limited edition!
Thank you for all the Rubber Dance inspiration this year, it has been a delight for me on my creative journey and i'm looking forward to doing it all again in the new year.
Wishing you a magical Christmas Bibi... Warmest of Hugs Tracey xx

    1. Thank you, Tracey! ♥ I think you're right about us crafters and our cards.... For birthdays, I often arrive with a gift and no card at all because I want BD cards to be made for that person in mind, I can't just grab any card from the pile. Silly, huh?
I'm so glad to hear that our work at Rubber Dance has been an inspiration to you on your creative journey! Thank YOU for joining so many of our challenges and showing off my stamps in your awesome artwork!! You have been an inspiration to me on many occasions, too! Seeing how you (and other crafters) use my stamps makes all the hard work worth it!!
      I hope you've had a lovely Christmas. Here's to a happy, creative 2018!
      Warm hugs back xx

  2. Lovely card Bibi! I've never used Shimmer Sheetz, you're making me curious...
I didn't send anywhere near enough cards this year but I've had to travel at short notice in December and my plans went out of the window. So what's new!! Next year....
Wishing you a very Happy Christmas Bibi! xx

    1. Thank you, Craftyfield! ♥ Shimmer Sheetz is a very fun product to work with, and its shimmer and shine is gorgeous.
I hope your having to travel on a short notice wasn't because of any sad news. Let's make all our Christmas cards in July in 2018, shall we? Thank you for being with me here on my blog this year with your sweet comments!
I hope you've had a lovely Christmas! xx

  3. Wonderful happy accident, the prettiest and vibrant of it. Merry Christmas to you and here's to a Happy, Healthy and Crafty 2018 x

    1. Thank you, Mac! ♥ I'm glad I had that accident - sometimes those happy accidents can lift our artwork to a new level. I hope you've had a lovely Christmas. Ditto to the happy, healthy and crafty 2018. Thanks for all your kind comments in 2017! xx

I guess it's not common that people go back to see if they were thanked for their comments, so I will say it now: THANK YOU so much for taking the time to leave a comment! ♥
